The (Salva-Vida) 5000 kg deflection block is designed to deflect steel wire (winder) rope with minimal friction, while maintaining load efficiency and safety. Ideal for changing the direction of the wire rope, cable, or synthetic rope without changing the load itself, while reducing strain on equipment.

What does a deflection block do

In lifting and rigging applications, a deflection block:

• Changes the direction of a hoist or pull line
• Allows a winch or hoist to be positioned in a more convenient location
• Helps routing the wire rope around obstacles
• Reduces side loading on equipment by guiding the rope along a desired path

Important

• A deflection block does NOT provide mechanical advantage when used to change direction
• The block and attachment point must be rated for the forces involved, as the load on the block can be substantial depending on the angles of deflection
• The sheave diameter should be suitable for the wire rope diameter to prevent rope damage, a typical calculation is 10 x the rope diameter
